Safety nylon net for crane forks

The safety net for crane forks is a secondary gripping device designed for lifting non-unitary loads by means of crane forks. Made of high-strength nylon with reinforced bottom, it prevents the total or partial fall of the material during handling operations at height.

It is indispensable when the forks have to lift loose material (for example bricks, blocks or non-strapped elements), i.e. loads that do not have the characteristics to be considered unit loads.

When the safety net is required

In lifting with forks, it is possible to distinguish:

• Unit load: the load composed of elements held together (straps, shrink wrapping, etc.) and equipped for handling, transport and storage as a single unit – according to UNI EN ISO 445.
• Non-unitary load: non-palletized load, palletized without strap/shrink wrapping, with damaged wrapping or out of service life, or load on disposable pallets.
• Disposable pallets: not suitable for handling at height.

In the presence of a non-unitary load, it is mandatory to use a secondary positive gripping device, such as a safety net or a basket, to prevent accidental release of the material during lifting.

It is the responsibility of the company performing the lifting operation to ascertain the nature of the load and the suitability of shrink wrapping, strap or pallet in advance. In case of doubt, it is necessary to request from the supplier of the material the relevant technical characteristics in order to assess the correct lifting method.
